Well, that kind of happened to me this morning. Mom went back inside to get something she forgot. She went through the back door because the front door was locked. Well, I remembered, I needed to pay tithing. Then, I started to feel guilty. So, instead of going the back way, I waited by the front door, waiting for Mom to come. She also came through the back door. You're probably familiar with a moment like this also. I asked my mom for the keys and she threw them. She did throw them but she was about six inches off (I can't really say anything because I have terrible aim).
Well, we have a front porch. And on the front porch we have some metalwork that has jasmine growing around it. In other words, there are two large jasmine bushes. One of which was happy to receive a set of car keys.
I got down to look for the keys, at which time Mom says, "Watch out for the snake!" Any courage or bravery I had been harboring to reach into the jasmine bush, quickly fled. I told Mom that was probably the worst thing she could say to me and if she was so eager for the keys, she should get them. (There is obviously a large black snake that has made its home underneath the our sidewalk. I have not seen it yet and would like to keep it that way.) She the said, "No, it's not poisonous, so if it does bite you it'll just hurt, not..." I burst out laughing at just how ridiculous the situation was or because I was nervous. I just went ahead and got the keys, unlocked the door, got my tithing, and we were still on time to church.
And I lived happily ever after, (so far anyway) or long enough to blog about it.
THE END

Wow! That was HILARIOUS! I felt like I was there!
I've seen that snake before, and it is CREEPY. Sorry, but it would not be reassuring to me either to know that it's razor-sharp teeth aren't venomous.
Fun post, Abby! Can't wait to see you in a couple days!
I saw a black snake yesterday too! That's pretty funny. Makes me think of Riki Tiki Tavi.
