FAIR Day!

The SC State Fair is in town! I am so happy. Especially since this year we actually have a day off from school this year. Last year we didn't have a day off and I had to go on a Saturday. I am still unsure because my Fair Buddy, my mom, is working this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that either dear old Dad will go, OR I will find someone to go with... Maybe I'll find someone at 7:30 Cross Country practice in the morning...

Back to School

That, ladies and gentlemen, happens to be a picture of my high school. I am attending as a sophomore. I think it's kind of funny when people ask me if I'm happy to be back in school. Come on people! It's school. Oh well.

Twilight and Hancock

(Which was an awesome movie.)

You might be wondering why I have lumped together Twilight, teen girl fantasy book, and Hancock, awesome movie with Will Smith in it.

The reason is after my dad and I had seen it and were driving home, we were discussing what was good about the movie. Our list consisted of the following:
1) Overcoming the natural man
2) Giving something up for love, or for your love
3) Will Smith (and the great thing is he doesn't abuse his fame by doing really stupid movies, but does good movies)
4) [and of course the classic] good triumphs over evil

Now I was thinking the next day how Twilight (sorry! a little bit obsessed) has 3 of the 4 elements. 1-The vampires are "vegetarians". And the other ones, you'll just have to figure out on your own... But if you don't want to read with a girl as the narrator, just wait because the author is going to come out with a book with the guy narrating, which in my opinion, will be much more interesting.
I f you want a taste of what that book will be like, try here.

Breaking Dawn

I loved it! (And thank you again to Aaron, Katy and Mom.)

I did not give a good explanation of the unnatural phenomenon that is the "Twilight Saga." This occurence is, truthfully, most often found among teenage girls. But it can be found among guys, too! Right here. Of course the guys often read them because they are so fed up with being in the dark while those around them animatedly talk about the books. But I am not writing this post to talk about the readers. I want to write about the book itself.
I have to admit that at first I did not want to read it. I actually found it at a book fair at my school and read the back. Not the best thing to do... But I then saw it at the library, and I needed to find a book to read because my parents and I were going on a trip to the beach. So, I thought, "What the heck?" I liked it. (I was not immediately hooked like so many people profess to have been. It grew on me.) I was obsessed enough that I read through it greedily. My parents didn't sense anything strange because I'm a vivacious reader and often become involved with a book. I found out that there were more and a friend of mine was very kind and let me borrow the second and third books in the trilogy.
Well, I'm back at the library. But this time I'm trying to convince my mom to read the first book because the it's fun and funny. My mom is in school and sys she doesn't have time to read a book and she doesn't want to read a book about vampires! That's gross! I assure her that they are vegetarians, and when she looks at me funny I again insist she reads it and she just says no. But I knew how to get to her. My mom loves to listen to books on tape, so I found it for her on tape ( or CD). To make sure she started, I put it into the player and listened to it with her. SUCCESS!!! She liked it. Yay! I was not alone! Even better, she bought all the books, too. Then, we convinced Amy. Katy read it too, but didn't like it. Oh well. Can't get everyone.
So, all that I ask is that you give it a chance. Please. And please, please, pleeeease read the book before you see the movie.
